Accidents at Work
We are highly experienced in acting for employees - including Trade Union
members - who have been injured in a workplace accident.
Such accidents can
be particularly distressing - you may be fearful of pursuing a claim against
your employer, or you may worry that you will be unable to carry out your
previous employment due to the injuries sustained. We can help and support
you in making these decisions, and obtaining the compensation to which you
are entitled.
If you can show the accident was caused by the failure of your employers to provide you with a safe system of work, you are entitled to claim against your employer.
Remember - your employer is obliged to be covered by Employers' Liability Insurance - the claim will usually be dealt with therefore by your employers' insurance company - not your employer directly.
Your employer is obliged to provide you with adequate training and your employer must also conduct risk assessments of any potentially hazardous task.
You should ensure that your accident is properly recorded in the firm's Accident Record Book as swiftly as possible and that you make a full note of the names and addresses of all witnesses to the accident.
You may be entitled to some contractual pay from your employer if you are off work recovering from your accident - you may also become entitled to Statutory Sick Pay, or Incapacity Benefits if your injuries are serious, and your time off work prolonged. We will ensure you receive your entitlement.
Expertise
As we are members of the Law Society Personal Injury Panel and Association of Personal Injury Lawyers, you can be assured that we will conduct your claim with the utmost professionalism, and expertise.
